I Took a Break from Being a Slave to My Phone

Yesterday, I was able to be more present with my 5-year-old niece and with my family without having my smart phone with me. For the whole day I didn’t check emails, social media, do phone calls and texts. It felt great to take a break from being a slave to my phone. I felt free and liberated. The best thing is that my niece got all of my attention. Wow, and that feels good! What a way to celebrate my niece’s 5th b-day and spend TRUE quality time with family. 99% of the time I always have my phone with me. I just happened to forget my phone at home and didn’t want to go back home to get it and be late to celebrate.

Pick a day or a time slot, for example 12 hours or at least 8 hours, to be free from your phone and other electronic devices. Try it once a week.

Are you able to function without your phone?

Reflect and make a note how it made you feel.

Please feel free to comment and share what your experiences were.

  1. For all of you Smart Alecks out there!
The 12 and 8 hours is meant during your waking hours. Not sleeping. 🙂
